FRANCE, FAMINE, AND FIASCO: THE ELUSIVE EXECUTIVE
To His Excellency, the President of Nigeria, currently residing in the Republic of France,
As the shadows of despair creep over the once-hopeful landscape of Nigeria, our hearts ache with the realisation that your absence has become a palpable presence, a constant reminder of the void left by your leadership. While you bask in the radiance of European climes, your people languish in the darkness of economic instability, their lives a testament to the aphorism "out of sight, out of mind."
The Senate, those stalwart sentinels of democracy, stand resolute on your mandate, a mandate that has morphed into a paradoxical curse, a "mandatory turmoil" that has unleashed a maelstrom of economic woes upon our beleaguered nation. As they cling to the letter of the law, we are left to ponder the wisdom of their steadfastness in the face of unrelenting adversity.
Meanwhile, in the hallowed halls of power, Vice President Shettima reigns supreme, a monarch without portfolio, his authority circumscribed by the long-distance governance of your esteemed self. One cannot help but wonder if the erstwhile dynamism of our governance structure has given way to a state of suspended animation, with decisions pending your return, a return that seems as elusive as a mirage on a desert highway.
We recall the halcyon days when your departure from our shores was marked with great fanfare, the governors who escorted you to the airport waving goodbye with an abandon that bordered on the effusive. Little did we know that this would be the last time we would see you in the flesh, your visage replaced by the distant glow of your benevolent leadership.
As the months turn into years, and the economy continues its downward spiral, we are left to grapple with the consequences of your absence. The people cry out for relief, their voices echoing through the corridors of power, but alas, the response is met with an unsettling silence, a silence that speaks volumes about the disconnect between the governed and the governors.
In this, our darkest hour, we implore you, dear President, to reflect on the weight of your mandate and the impact of your absence. Shall we continue to stand on the precipice of uncertainty, or shall we find a way to reclaim our collective destiny? The governors, meanwhile, await your return with bated breath, their hands clapping in anticipation of the familiar rhythm of "daddy oyoyo." When might we expect your return, or shall we assume that the European sojourn has become a permanent arrangement?
Yours sincerely,
Team nBAU (Concerned Citizen of Nigeria)
