OSHIOMHOLE'S LEXICAL LAMENT: A STUDY IN UNDIPLOMATIC ELOQUENCE

In the world of politics, where words are weapons and foot-in-mouth diseases are rampant, it is with a heavy heart that we observe the antics of one Adams Oshiomhole, erstwhile luminary of Nigerian politics, presently basking in the radiance of his own idiocy. His recent interview with Seun Okinbaloye on 5th October, has left us aghast, prompting an existential crisis regarding the state of Nigerian politics.

Oshiomhole, whose communication style and tendency to speak without filter have often landed him in hot water, sparking controversy and outrage, has once again, as a loose cannon, failed to consider the consequences of his words.

Despite his attempt to use provocative language and failed flourished rhetorics to grab attention and spark debate, he has instead incurred the wrath of NYFA Leaders, alienated potential allies and undermine his credibility.

"Oshiomhole's sympathies," a phrase that has become an oxymoron, much like "judicial integrity" or "politician's accountability, one shudders to think what profundity might have been uttered had he not been constrained by the exigencies of his own ineptitude. Alas, "I have sympathy for former President Atiku" shall be etched in the annals of history as a paradigm of patronising condescension from the uncouth politician.

Oshiomole should smell the brewing coffee. In our linguistic jujitsu, we deftly sidestep Oshiomhole's faux pas and target the jugular of his own questionable judgement. We can not help but wonder if the less of a gentleman has been indulging in an overabundance of intoxication to the detriment of his cognitive faculties.

Furthermore, his allusion to Maiduguri, a toponym that has become synonymous with controversy, betrays a myopia of epic proportions. We would have expected a statesman of Oshiomhole's calibre to focus on the pressing issues of the day, rather than tilting at windmills.

We understand his antecedents and his apparent lack of self-editing which have led to numerous controversies and gaffes, damaging his reputation: pointing to his disgraceful strip of the APC Chairmanship; and undermining his effectiveness as a politician.

As we reflect on Oshiomhole's undiplomatic endeavours, it becomes clear that his words have been the substratum in self-infused damage. In the end, Oshiomhole's legacy shall be one of unfulfilled potential, a testament to the destructive power of unchecked ineptitude. His future endeavours will be watched with bated breath, in the hope that he will learn to temper his words with wisdom and decorum. Until then, we shall continue to chronicle the misadventures of a man who has mastered the art of saying nothing with great fanfare.
